March 2012
Dear Loyal WBU Customers,
We hope 2012 is off to a good start for you! We appreciate very much your patronage in 2011 and during our eight years of ownership of Wild Birds Unlimited Nature Shop.
2012 promises to be a year of transition for our family as Gary and Janie will begin their full retirement. At the WBU Winter Board Meeting, the board considered the length of time remaining on both the building lease and WBU franchise agreement. It was unanimously agreed that the lease for the Jekyll Island storefront expiring at the end of July 2012 will not be renewed.
We wanted to first inform our most loyal customers so that you will be attentive to e-mail communications from wildbirds@bellsouth.net and postings to our store’s Website, www.wbu.com/jekyllisland. Through these communication tools, we will update you frequently regarding our transition.
We will be working with our franchisor, Wild Birds Unlimited Corporation, to hopefully find someone who wishes to continue operating this “one-of-a-kind” hobby shop. If you or anyone you know would like to explore this opportunity, please visit www.wbufranchise.com to see the financial requirements and approval process. Our exclusive territory includes all of Glynn and Camden Counties and a portion of Macintosh County and runs from the Florida state line to approximately 35 miles south of Savannah. Thus, the storefront can be located anywhere within this territory.
As we move towards the end of July, we will continue to do our best to meet your birding needs. Please know that we will miss working with you as you have pursued your hobby and visited our shop. However, we are looking forward to the next phase of our pursuits. Please accept our
Warmest wishes for your continued birding enjoyment,
Gary, Janie and Harlan Smith
